At Arctic Hope, we strive to produce sound, healthy, standard-sized malamutes with good work ethic and wonderful temperaments.

We test our dogs' work ethic by earning backpacking, sledding and weight pulling titles through the Alaskan Malamute Club of America (AMCA).

We test their soundness (type, structure and movement) by showing our dogs to their conformation championships through the American Kennel Club (AKC).

We test their temperaments by earning Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification through the AKC, Temperament Test (TT) certification through the American Temperament Test Society, and Therapy Dog (ThD) certification through Therapy Dogs, Inc. And now we're branching out into competition obedience, rally obedience, and eventually into agility.

Finally, we test health by obtaining ChD (chondrodysplasia or "dwarfism"), OFA (hip dysplasia) and CERF (cataracts) certification.

September 2008

  • Ixarri took Best of Breed and a Working Group 2 at his fourth fun match!
  • Asik got an "Excellent" rating on her hips and "Normal" on her elbows!!
  • Asik passed her ATTS temperament test!

August 2008

  • Asik took her third point at the Lorain County KC show.
  • Penny hit the show ring again after 8 months at home having puppies and growing a new coat, taking another point.

July 2008

  • Ixarri took Best of Breed and a Working Group 1 at his third fun match!
  • Ixarri took Best of Breed and a Working Group 2 at his second fun match!

June 2008

  • Ixarri took Best of Breed at his first fun match!

May 2008

  • Asik took back-to-back Best of Winners under Breeder-Judges Cindy Benson and Nancy Russell for her first two points!
  • All of the puppies are safely in their new homes
  • 7-Wk video footage of puppies added

March 2008
